A sweet family and "Remember the Duck"

May 17

After breakfast I shared some thoughts about looking for the coming of Christ.

Lunch was with Sue in the home of Robert and Blanca (children - Mililani, 11, and Dayron, 7). It was lovely! They have really worked on learning the hymns. They even know them by number! We sang quite a few hymns while we were waiting for lunch (cuy, potatoes, rice, choclo and salad that I never got around to eating with gelatin for dessert). I told a couple of school stories while we were eating and Sue told a story afterward. Robert and Blanca professed in 2006 when Sue was in this field. A very special family!

On our way to lunch

There's just something that appeals to me about clothes hanging on the line.

There will be more benches added for the weekend.

Remember the duck (Sue's story) - the power that sin has over us - Two children were playing while their parents were away, throwing rocks. One rock hit the duck and killed it. When the parents came home, the children told them that the duck had died. The next day, the parents have each child a bit of spending money and sent them off to school. The child whose rock had not hit the duck asked his sibling to give him his money.  The answer was no. "Remember the duck." So the money was handed over. Same routine with carrying the backpack. Finally, the guilty child confessed to the parents what he had done, and his brother had no more power over him with "Remember the duck."

Mililani and Dayron agreed to show us the path to get back to the convention grounds - a better path than the one we had come on.  (Sue fell on the way to lunch.) As we were getting ready to leave, Dayron asked me, "May I carry your backpack, Srta?" And Mililani offered to carry Sue's, so off we went following our sweet little guides. They took us part of the way, and then Sue knew the rest of the way.

Gospel Meeting was at 5:00. Laércio and I spoke. I spoke about prayer, and Laércio spoke about Noah. First meeting I haven't led the singing.

Supper was after meeting - lamb, mashed potatoes and salad with a delicious apple crisp for dessert.

Washed dishes with the whole crew and then the dish towels after with Rosa and Flor. Elvia joined us the last little bit.

A note regarding convention jobs  - Everyone gets into the kitchen for a couple of meals. The brothers do their own laundry. No one misses any meetings to cook. One job is filling hot water bottles at night.

I'm bushed! Thank goodness I don't have to speak again until Saturday, though that will be here before I know it!
