A few thoughts from Ipiales

  • Human virtue will fail.
  • Our human reactions can be put to death in the presence of God.  There we can gain His feelings about things.
  • Rain, sun, cold all cause roots to go deeper.
  • The bread that the little lad had in John 6 was just common, but when he put it in the hands of Jesus, it became holy.
  • Our true testimony is what others can see of God in us.
  • Gratitude and need can coexist.  As we grow, our need also grows.
  • Satisfaction and hunger can coexist.  We hunger, not because of a lack, but because we've proved that what God offers is so good.
  • Love makes walking the narrow way easy.
  • God established a way in heaven.  Jesus established it on the earth.  The Holy Spirit establishes it in our hearts.
  • A farmer puts a fence around his cattle because he can't change their nature.  That's what the law did.  Jesus came to give us a new nature, which is much better than the law.
  • True repentance takes us to the feet of Jesus.
  • When we don't know what to do, it's good to seek the Lord.
  • It's always better to wait for God's time.
  • Jesus was the meekest man to ever live and also the most powerful.
  • A horse that resists is dangerous.  When it submits to its owner, it can be very useful.  A horse doesn't become meek simply by being around other horses that are meek; it requires an individual work.
  • One key to having patience is having the spirit of a servant.  A servant spends his life waiting.  Jesus had more authority than anyone on earth, but He also had more patience than anyone else because He never lost the spirit of a servant.
  • Becoming like Jesus is a life-long process.
  • Sometimes it's patience that makes the difference between success and defeat.
  • In every temptation there is a way of escape.  Often the reason that we fall in temptation is because we haven't sought that escape.
  • Don't speak when you're angry.
  • God's whole purpose is our salvation.
  • David went to the place of battle with bread.
  • Many people want to understand, but they don't want to commit.
  • If we better understood His sacrifice, we would be more willing.
  • God will never turn a stone into bread.  A stone never feeds.
  • It is more correct to say that our soul has a body than to say that our body has a soul.
  • If we are not living according to the word of God, we do not have a testimony.
  • The light of the sun, after traveling 93 million miles to reach the earth, can be blocked out by simply shutting the curtain.  We don't want to do that with the light of Jesus.
  • It doesn't require intelligence to receive a revelation, only honesty.
  • Greater understanding comes only as we draw closer to God and submit more completely to Him.
  • Love conquers indifference.
  • The only thing that could have prevented the resurrection is if Jesus had not died.  If we die to ourselves, we will manifest the resurrection power in our lives.
