A few thoughts from Olmos Special Meeting

  • You don't see the root, but you do see what springs forth from the root.
  • Sometimes what springs forth from our lives gives evidence that there are things alive in us that should be dead.
  • Bitterness kills little by little.
  • Keeping under the control of the head brings unity.
  • There are things we have to leave behind in order to make forward progress.
  • We often don't realize how much God loves us, how much He is doing on our behalf.
  • The older son in Luke 15 was living in the father's house without feeling his need and without gratitude.
  • Independence doesn't work in the way of God.
  • God is looking for people who rise up to obey.
  • Pride always hinders.
  • When we depend on God, we glorify Him.  Independence robs God of the glory.
  • Humility glorifies God.
  • If we can't think beyond our own weakness, we cannot glorify God.
  • The blood of Jesus has the power to remove the ugliest stain.
  • We don't want to just cover up things in our lives so that others won't see them; we want to seek the remedy in Christ.
  • Sometimes we don't even try to really understand the great price paid by our Redeemer.
  • As the harvest draws nearer, the birds go after the grain even more because it is more mature.
  • Our effort is not in vain.
  • There is no such thing as 99% faithfulness.
  • What evidence is there in our lives that we love the Lord?
  • We want our lives to show that we are not serving God out of obligation, but rather out of love.
  • Winds will come, but there's safety in the Rock.
  • If we love God and His will as Jesus did, we will never think that God is asking too much of us.
  • God is the one who, at the end, will declare who are His friends.
  • Don't let a straying glance take away your hope of arriving at your desired destination.
  • As we consider Jesus, we won't get discouraged or grow weary.
