Thoughts from Las Mercedes convention

Las Mercedes
Nov. 8-10, 2019

·     We have the privilege of living close to God every day.
·     Many people were close enough to Jesus to hear what He said, but they didn’t apply His words to their lives.
·     Our vision greatly affects how we walk.
·     The shepherds in Luke 2 were anticipating the birth of new lambs in their flocks, but the angels brought them news of the birth of another lamb – the Lamb of God.
·     Jesus enjoyed an open heaven every day of His life because of His obedience to His Father.
·     When he took up the sword, Peter inflicted a wound he couldn’t heal.  But Jesus healed both the man whose ear had been cut off and also Peter.
·     Don’t let your failings discourage you.
·     Faith brings us into a relationship with God, with Jesus and with the Holy Spirit.  A relationship is very different from a law.
·     Professing is not a title; it’s a commitment.
·     We can’t serve God with half of our being.
·     Much of the time it’s possible that people don’t know if we’re going the first mile or the second, but God knows.  The blessing is found in the second mile.
·     We are not the offering, the bread of life, the Passover Lamb, but we are the salt.  When our life shows gratitude, satisfaction, we’re adding salt.
·     When we allow others to anger us, we allow them to control us.
·     All of Ruth’s labor couldn’t save her; she needed a redeemer.
·     Both Ruth who had been far away and Naomi who had been born in Israel needed a redeemer.
·     After a fire has been lit, it must be protected.  There are a lot of strong winds in this world that would like to put out our light.

·     Neglecting the daily things leads to death.
