Cuenca to Guayaquil

After the meetings were over in Cuenca, I rode back to my field with some of the friends who had come from Guayaquil.

We stopped for fritada.

Guinea pig (cuy) roasting on the spit
(This is not what we ordered.)

We went for the pig instead.

While our attentions were focused on the roasting pigs, the attentions of the "pig keepers" were focused on us.

Dishing up our plates

Yummy!

And now we hit the road for real.

I spent a good portion of my time taking pictures of the passing traffic in no passing zones.  We witnessed a few close calls but no accidents.

A good portion of this trip takes you through Lajas National Park, which is quite beautiful!

The flashing lights are "car speak" for "Get out of my lane!"

The fog is drifting in.

Needless to say, the limited visibility slowed us down quite a bit.

All the "Beautiful View" restaurant can offer today in the way of a vista is a gray wall.

Watering down the overheated brakes (or something)

Back on the flat land

Cows

 And mangoes

We have arrived.
