A Few Overlooked Photos
I got to see my good friends, Valerie and Grover a couple of weeks ago. Here are a few photos of the evening.
Grover and Fleece reunited
G & F help Karmen and Katia work on a puzzle
Grover gets up close and personal trying to find just the right piece.
Fleece checks to see if the piece she needs is still in the box.
Val entertains a few young visitors by consistently mis-identifying pictures in a book.

My new hobby - Bowling
Well, yesterday I finally got around to starting on Karmen's house-warming rug. (She's only been in her new house for a few weeks!) Actually, I must be completely honest and accurate and say that the rug I started working on yesterday was not exactly Karmen's house-warming rug but rather the practice rug I had decided to make as a first attempt. Just in case. I didn't want to ruin all the lovely material we had picked out in Shipshewana on a flop.
Lovely material purchased in Shipshewana
So, I began the practice rug using a handy dandy little starter circle that my good friend, Pina Patel, had sent me from Iowa. I watched the video tutorials on the website I had found (Toothbrush Rag Rug Cafe) over and over again as I tried to copy what the lady on the video was doing. Finally, I had something that looked like the start of a circular rug. Success! As I kept going, the edge of the rug started curling more and more. I figured that once it got a little bigger, it would get heavy enough to lay flat. I would work on it again tomorrow (today). So much for my sound logic! As I continued to work today, I came to the conclusion that instead of making a rag rug, I was making a rag bowl. I decided to keep on going anyway, and the final product is rather cute even if it wasn't what I was originally intending to make.
Fleece liked the finished product.
After talking to Pina this afternoon, I figured out what I had done wrong and hope it will be easy enough to correct on my next practice rug. Which I intend to start soon! :-)
New Game
Have you ever played Telestrations? Alice and I were introduced to this laughter-filled game the other night. Here's the long and short of it.
Step 1 - Write your word and draw a picture of it.
Step 2 - Pass your book to the next player.
Step 3 - Look at the drawing in the book that was passed to you, and write down what you think the drawing is of.
Step 4 - Pass the book to the next player.
Step 5 - Look at the word in the book that was passed to you (what the player next to you guessed yet another player down the line's drawing to be), and draw a picture of it.
Step 6 - Pass the book to the next player.
Step 7 - Repeat steps until your own book is passed back to you.
It's quite entertaining, especially if you are not artistically inclined. You can get off track in a hurry. I think if you want to keep score, you get a point if the last word guessed matches your original word. However, the game is enough fun without keeping score. I recommend it!

I've spent yesterday and today working to empty out my inbox and "Need to Respond" folder of my e-mail. I don't know exactly what it is about e-mail that makes me so bad at it. Maybe it's my rebellion against instantaneous communication. When someone writes you a letter, you know they're not expecting a return letter by the end of the day. Most times when someone sends me an e-mail, they're not expecting a return e-mail by the end of the day either. But it's possible to do so, and somehow that makes it more "stressful." Maybe it's because when you send a return e-mail, you don't have anything to "show" for it like you do when you have to take your letters to the post office. Whatever it is, I'm really bad about corresponding electronically. Now, having said all this, I am not against e-mail. I love hearing from you that way. I'm always very happy to see unopened mail in my inbox for me to read and enjoy. It's just that you shouldn't expect to hear back from me by the end of the day! :-)
Okay, back to work. 15 down; 42 to go.

Spring? In January??
I love it! I could hardly make myself come back inside after my walk this afternoon. 50 degrees and sunny with a slight breeze - can't beat it!
Maybe we could keep it up for Special Meetings?
