Sightseeing in Guayaquil

We don't often get to do touristy things here, but on occasion we have visitors who need to be shown a few of the sights.

So after Sunday morning meeting, we took our Canadian friends to the mall food court for lunch.

And then to the malecón for a little touristing
I really like trees, and this one seemed just right for sitting in.
(No, there are no pictures of how I got up or down!)

Next, a hike up to the lighthouse...

A nice 444 steps up through the "barrio" of Santa Ana

And another 52 to the top of the lighthouse for this view of the city

The "worker component" of our crew posing in front of the lighthouse
(with Guayaquil's flag flying in the breeze)

Cable car over the river Daule and the city is next.

Cemetery from above

Parque de las iguanas is next.
Watch out when walking under the trees!

And we finished off with ice cream!

No, none of us got the "BANA WAFFLE SPLIT," but I had to take a picture of the sign.
