Introducing Fleece

Last night I received a package in the mail.  I hadn't ordered anything, so I had no idea what to expect.  When I opened it up, I found a new little friend, a lamb named Fleece.  This morning I brought her downstairs to show Samuel and Adrian.  We immediately had to have a photo shoot.  I told Sam that my friend, Valerie, had gotten my lamb for me.  He replied, "That was awful nice of her."  I agree!  I'm sure you'll see more of Fleece in future posts.

Adrian had a little lamb, little lamb, little lamb...

It followed him to school one day, school one day, school one day...

Strong work to my guessers!  I'll have to try and get some harder ones.  :-)

Good Morning!

This morning I was sleeping away when I awoke to tapping on my arm.  Samuel was standing by the side of the bed.  "Do you want to know what time it is?" he inquired?

A lively evening

Andrea Vail and her four munchkins showed up at the Hoots house about 5:30.  The plan was that we would all have supper together.  Then, David and Laura and their two boys, Andrea and her two oldest boys and Rose would head to Springfield to watch a play at the "Muni."  I would stay home and watch the two youngest Vail children, Paxton and Anya.

While the adults got the meal ready, the kids entertained themselves, each other and me.

An intense game of Blokus is just beginning.

"Hi doggie!"

"All this activity is wearing me out!"

Supper was lively but amazingly uneventful.  Dessert was ice cream.

Lots of chocolate!

After supper, all the other adults and all but two kids loaded into two vehicles to head to Springfield.  Paxton was feeling a little left out and unsure about being left behind.  As we watched everyone pull away, he had a rather sad look on his face.  "They're going to ride in the car, and we're going to play in the sandbox," I said, trying to cheer him up a little.  "How'd that happen?" was his response.

Before too long, however, we were involved in all sorts of play with no thought of those who had left us behind.

Quite a procession!

"I think I'll just move this over here."

After sandbox time necessarily comes bath time.  I didn't think I could put them in their pajamas in their sandy condition, so we went upstairs for a quick rinse off.  We added a few toys to the bath water, and the two of them were having a grand old time.  When Anya started some heavy duty splashing, I decided it was time to dry her off.  As I was doing so, Paxton was observing me quite intently.  Soon he said, "Hey, are you that worker guy?"  Well, I guess I am.  :-)

Now they're both sound asleep, and I very nearly am, so I'll sign off for tonight.  So glad for all who share their children with us.  They keep us humble, sane, entertained and informed!

Kids say the cutest things!

I showed Adrian my first blog of the evening.  "Who is this?" I asked, pointing at the picture of him on my computer screen.  "Me," he replied.  "How did you get on my computer?"  He answered very seriously, "I do not know."

Samuel woke up a little while after Rose and I arrived.  Here he is at the top of the stairs with a smile on his face upon seeing me.  How can your heart not melt at such a sight?  He came down and told me with a gleam in his eye, "When I heard you talking to Mom, I just sot up and dot out of bed!"  "Were you coming to give me a hug?" I asked him.  He got a funny look on his face.  "Oh...I didn't think of it."

When I showed Sam my first blog, he looked at his brother, shook his head and proclaimed, "You're too funny, Adrian!"

Rose came downstairs and said, "Hi, Sam.  How are you?"  He replied, "I'm a little sick."  I hadn't seen any indication of sickness up to that point, so I inquired.  "Do you have a runny nose?"  "No," Sam said.  "I have a sneezy mouth."

What a HOOT!

Rose and I are staying with the Hoots family tonight.  Samuel and Adrian are two of my very special friends.  Adrian decided he wanted to play Crazy Eights.  I told him I didn't know how play.  Could he teach me?  "Sure I tan!" he responded enthusiastically!  More posts to follow I'm sure!

Adrian and I played our own (or I should say, his own) version of Blokus.
