Thoughts from Darien Special Meeting

  • Our parents corrected us because they loved us, and we responded to their correction because we loved them.  Let us respond in like manner to God's loving correction.
  • Jesus felt comfortable being a servant, and as such, He glorified His Father.
  • Jesus is the answer to all of our problems.
  • It's a glory to God when we turn to Him in our need.
  • If we feed on the wrong things, it will affect our spirit and our words.
  • The good Samaritan didn't stop at the side of the road because the man who needed help was his lifelong friend.  It wasn't even because he recognized him as being from his hometown.  He likely was a complete stranger.  He stopped and helped anyway.  That's compassion.
  • Modesty is dressing to forget ourselves.
  • Being clothed with salvation makes us presentable before God and also before others.
  • All the things that Stephen was remembering and sharing in Acts 7 would have helped him to die.  The things that had been a help to Abraham and Joseph and Moses could be a comfort to Stephen too.  God will lead in the right way.  His timing is best.  His strength will enable me.
  • Mary, Martha and Lazarus would have missed so much if their home hadn't been open to Jesus.  They considered it a great privilege to spend time with Him.
  • Not giving our best, not repenting, and pride will cause us to grow weary in serving God.
