Staff Farewell

I was completely thrown off guard when the Illiana staff arranged a little farewell "party" for me the Wednesday before Mt. Sterling.

Staff sisters

Former co-workers at Mt. Sterling

This many of my former co-workers were present at Mt. Sterling convention this year, and it seemed like the perfect moment to get a picture.

Rose Taplin, Ardith Ellingson, Dana Jacobsen, Janet Nicol, Kamela, Kristina Wagler, Rebecca Carroll, Sharon Rostad

Back at it

Several have asked if I will be resuming my blog activities upon my return to Ecuador, and I have been replying, "I will try."  So here is my initial attempt to be back at it!

As time passes....

...these sentiments expressed on April 6 become ever truer.

(To be sung to the tune of "I Wish I Were an Oscar Meyer Weiner")

I think that I just might be going crazy,
Trapped right here inside this little room.
And if not yet, I'll certainly be crazy
If this old quarantine ain't over soon!

Had I known then that our situation would be the same on June 16, I probably really would have gone crazy!  Yesterday marked 13 full weeks of quarantine.  Maybe the end will be soon???

Editor's note: I wish to make it clear that this was written in fun and not out of a desire for pity.  ðŸ™‚

How did he get to be TWO???

This little fellow turned two on May 2.  I got to attend his Zoom video birthday party!

These ought to last us a while!

Yummy for making fresh squeezed orange juice or  for just plain eating

Yes, we have an automatic ice maker.

It hasn't broken down yet!

I finally decided one day that I had gone long enough without ice, so I decided to do something about it.

If you would like to replicate my nice ice experience:

1. Fill a plastic bag with as much water as will fit in the available space in your freezer.
2. Double bag in case the first bag springs a leak.
3. Leave in the freezer for a day or two, rotating as necessary for a complete freeze.
4. When you can't live any longer without ice, open both bags.  Drain any liquid ice into a cup.
5. Smash ice cube with hammer.
6. Remove the plastic that has frozen into the ice chunk.  (At least as much of it as you can)
6. Spoon ice into your Happy mug for a refreshingly cold beverage.
