Waiting for the bus in Santa Ana, we kept entertained by people watching...
And entertained all the people who were watching us!
Notice the lady in the background?
I had misplaced my toothbrush in Ayacucho (I later found it right in my backpack!) so I had to buy a new one in Santa Ana. Since there was no restroom facility available, I had to make do with what I had - bottled water and a gutter. It worked quite well!
A whole lotta laughing going on...
I think Mom's famous "Buenos días" story had just been told.
Here it is...
Last night when Mom and I were sharing the bottom bunk of our bed in Ayacucho, I pulled the sheet up over her as she was drifting off to sleep. She groggily mumbled, "Gracias." "Wow!" I thought. "She really is getting this Spanish thing down pat if she's speaking it when she's nigh unto unconsciousness!" The next morning, a taxi picked us up from the home where we were to take us to where Aunt Beth and Marsha were waiting for us. When we arrived at our destination, the driver got out to help us all with our backpacks. He got Mom's bag out of the trunk and handed it to her, to which she graciously and enthusiastically responded, "¡Buenos días!" Perhaps we need a bit more practice. :-)
