Happy Birthday, Rebekah!

After convention rounds were over, I was on the list without a co-worker until the middle of January. Fortunately, Rebekah Murray, a young girl visiting Ecuador from New Zealand, was willing to accompany me so that I wouldn't be alone.  Our first full day together in the field happened to be her birthday, so we tried to do a little celebrating in addition to our two studies that day.

Javier Pizarro, visiting from Brazil, picked us up in the morning to do a little touristing before having lunch with his parents at their home in Guayaquil.

One of Guayaquil's several city overlooks

Just for kids...

 Little ones and big ones.

A quick stop at the "Malecón Salado"

And then we happened upon a little museum with free admission.
It turned out to not be incredibly interesting, but at least it was air conditioned!

Dunkin' Donuts!
Stop the truck!

Driving by the other malecón

See the Christmas decorations?

Final pre-lunch stop: The Pearl of Guayaquil

This fellow's job is to clean out each car as it passes by.

Up, up, up we go!

Don't lean on the doors.

No pictures from lunch or our study with don Martín

For some reason, that little chunk of wood seemed a little less than adequate for the job, but it must have worked.

Happy birthday, Rebekah!  Hope you enjoyed your day.
