Thoughts from Boyden convention

  • Following where God leads will promote faith and trust and further obedience.
  • The Lord is laboring night and day for the salvation of our souls.
  • We adorn the doctrine of God by our obedience to it.
  • Everyone has a clean future.  Because of Jesus, God's people have a clean past.
  • Lies take many forms, but the author of every lie is the same.  Lies don't start with the lips.
  • The purpose of an unjust weight or balance is that we would get more than we give.
  • Doing what we know to do will keep us from being a hypocrite.
  • Until we love what we should love, we can't help but do the things we hate.
  • Don't let your feelings control how you treat others.
  • What we permit, we promote.
  • Our enemy tries to appear like he's not the enemy.
  • There's a tendency when there's an abundance of something to be careless with it.  There's all provision for our sin, but don't be presumptuous.  Don't misuse it.
  • Jesus got victory in the same setting we're in.  He always availed Himself of the help that was available to Him.
  • God created us to give us the best.
  • Resistance is the only thing that limits God.
  • We make ourselves miserable by not repenting.
  • Meekness is the virtue of not rising in self-defense nor accusing another when falsely accused.
  • Sin isn't just doing wrong.  It's knowing what God wants us to do and not doing it.
  • If we don't love the truth, what we do love will overcome us.
  • The conclusion that John came to after walking with Jesus was "God is love."
  • With love comes service.
  • It's not about including God in our plans; it's about yielding to God's plans.  God's plans happen the way He plans them.  They work.  That's why we can trust Him.
  • The emblems remind us that redemption's work is done.
  • Be careful what you allow today because it could become the standard of tomorrow.
