On Tuesday morning, Karen and I headed from Los Encuentros to the town of Yantzaza. We were supposed to have a study in the morning, but it didn't work out. That meant we had until 6:00 to sit around. Often we can go to a shopping center or some such place in the larger cities. However, Yantzaza happens to be a small pueblo, so there was no such thing as a shopping center. We spent all morning in the park. Around noon we decided to find a place to eat. While we ate chicken at a local restaurant, it poured cats and dogs. After lunch, we went back to the park, dried off a bench and continued to sit. In the afternoon, we found a little bakery and sat there for a while sipping our cold drinks and sharing a piece of chocolate cake as we watched it rain heavily out the window. When it started to get a bit crowded in the bakery, we decided to head to the bus terminal and sit there until it was time for the study. Around 4:30, Karen decided to call the lady whose number we had to see if we could come a bit early. Fortunately, it was possible, and we ended up finishing our study by 6:00, the time we were supposed to start. It was especially nice since we had to find a hostal after the study since the lady with whom we were supposed to stay was out of town. We paid $10 each (per bed, not per room) for a room with a private bathroom and headed off to find supper. Not being overly desirous of more chicken and rice, we bought rolls and ham from a little market and had sandwiches in our room. Though it wasn't an overly eventful day, we were quite ready to fall into bed at the end of it.
Here are a few pictures I took in the park during our long wait there.
