And all too soon, our time together is at an end. Karmen's flight wasn't until 1:35 on Sunday morning, so we didn't have to be in any particular rush to leave Otavalo. Our hosts at Ali Shungu further showed their wonderfulness by not having a checkout time on Saturday. To make things less complicated, we had them arrange for one of their taxi drivers to take us from the lodge directly to the Quito airport, so we didn't have to leave our little cabin paradise until 6:30 pm, giving us all afternoon to continue relaxing and to finish up our packing.
We got to the airport in very good time so spent a couple of hours at the Juan Valdez coffee shop playing games and talking.
Before we knew it, it was time for Karmen to check in and depart. Good-byes are never easy, but it's nice when we can say, "See you next time!"
