Cadeate to Guayaquil

I decided to get my camera out on our latest trip from Cadeate (on the coast) to Guayaquil on April 21.  I didn't look for anything special to document; I just snapped away to try and capture what is typical.  Apparently I took 191 pictures from start to finish.  I won't post all of them.  :-)

Oh, and they all seem to be tinted a bit green as a result of being taken through the window of the bus.  Hope it doesn't make anyone sick.  :-)

Take home your choice of gaudy statue!

One of many roadside stores

Do you see the vendor selling coconut water and pieces of coconut?

When you see one of those yellow signs, it's a good idea to start slowing down.  A major hump in the road is coming right up!

School

Lots of political propaganda on buildings, fences, walls, etc.

That ladder is made out of bamboo.  It's a good idea to have someone stand at the bottom and hold it.

Restaurant

Health care workers walking to the local clinic

Petroleum plant

Piles of salt
And no, we don't use it for the roads in winter!

Correa is the current president of Ecuador.

Selling newspapers and a few other things

Pirated movies for sale
The bus drivers love these!

Pingüino: Ecuadorian ice cream

Jaywalker

Bananas

Can you see the pedestrian road / bike trail on the other side of the road?

The tuna advertisements are ever-present.

Bus stop

Margarine is also a very advertised product in this country.

Coming into the city

Pedestrian bridge: one place I have decided I would rather not be in an earthquake

Shopping mall - one of several in Guayaquil

Gas station

Tractor trailers waiting for a load

Another pedestrian bridge
You can get some good exercise on these!

In Guayaquil, there are many challenges to finding your way around.  One thing that complicates life is having to pass your destination by quite a distance, turn around at one of these U-turn places, and drive back to where you wanted to be in the first place.

Approaching the terminals - Metrovía on the left, bus on the right

Here comes a Metrovía bus.

So, as you can see, nothing special.  Just every day life in this part of our field.
