A few thoughts from Quito convention

  • It takes effort to humble ourselves, but God wants to help us.
  • If God is going to be able to make us like Jesus, we must be completely committed to the process.
  • Murmuring against our brethren is really murmuring against God.
  • Our human is not attracted to the things of God.
  • One of the secrets of Timothy's success was that he could be advised and instructed.
  • Matt. 23 - This chapter applies to the tendency in every one of us to be like the Pharisees.
  • We have to sacrifice on the correct altar - the will of God.  That's the only sacrifice that brings blessing.
  • God's temple, our body, has no value without the presence of God.
  • When we respond to the voice of Jesus, He will protect us from all that is wrong around us as well as every wrong tendency within ourselves.
  • God is a giver, not a taker.  He draws us to Himself to give us something, and He loves what He is trying to give us.
  • We worship God by seeking to have a spirit like Him.
  • God's love is one of the most misunderstood things in the world.  How does God love us?  He loves us by making us like Jesus.
  • We show our love for God by trying to be like Jesus.
  • Choose what is good by how it affects our spirit.
  • We don't want to miss out on the most important thing in life just because we feel unworthy of it.
  • When the younger son in Luke 15 left the house, he felt worthy to receive what was his, but he returned with another feeling completely.
  • We're all citizens of somewhere.  What are we choosing?
  • A truly professing person has the feeling, "I don't belong to this world; I belong to God."
  • Elizabeth and Mary had wonderful fellowship together despite being in very different situations.  (great joy for Elizabeth, possible humiliation for Mary)
  • The thing that is important is how we appear in the eyes of God.
  • Our enemy wants to impoverish us.
  • Bread from God comes in the secret place.
