A quick weekend in Guayaquil

A typical street scene
Buses, motorcycles, street vendors, dogs

These motorized tricycles are a preferred mode of public conveyance in this part.

A herd of cows blocks our road.

This tractor is specifically for rice fields.  Notice the wheels.  Often the tractor is largely submerged in the water.

Through the banana fields

Trying a new fruit
Sorry I can't remember the name of it.  I think it starts with a "c".  I'll let you know if and when I get more information.
The outside is green.  The fruit inside is white and milky.  It makes your lips stick together!

Following a truckload of bananas

The beach

Many houses are built right out in the rice paddies and use these bamboo bridges to get from the road to home.

"If there is lunch," this sign boldly declares.  I believe they mean to say, "Yes, there is lunch."  As in, "Yes, we are serving lunch."  The spelling and punctuation police are rather lenient down here.

Lots of color!

Driving down the middle of the road

Lots of watermelon

Police check
Do you have your license and insurance papers?

I couldn't get a picture of this in time.  The car behind us had a mattress on top.  In lieu of ropes to tie it down, one hand held on to it from each of the four windows.
