Well, Talisha, you taught me a new name. I had never heard of Cyrano de Bergerac, so I had to google him. I'm not sure this guy's nose is long enough to be CdB, but it's possible. I was thinking more along the line of a Spanish or Italian explorer. Could be literary though?
That could be. I'm driving myself nuts googling all these people. :) This was a statue that Jim and Stephanie Norton found out in the barn on their property. They showed it to us at Special Meeting time.
So no one knows. I suppose the possibility exists that it is a fictional character- statue of no one or of an idea (Spanish/Italian/Portuguese explorer)- rather than of an actual person.
Judging by the "panache" on his hat, I would have to guess Cyrano de Bergerac?
ReplyDeleteNo idea...but now I'm curious! :)

ReplyDeleteOk then- Francisco Coronado... and that's just a guess. Where did you see this dude?

ReplyDeleteThat could be. Maybe I should just be content with that conclusion. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd be talking to librarians and history teachers- and maybe try some at a university. Sounds like a fun little project, actually!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I just have to think about it at the right time!
