Lakeside Walkin'

Somewhere nearby
sirens are blaring,
cars are honking,
children are loudly enjoying their recess,
people are talking as they walk by
beggars who are rattling a few coins in a cup
somewhere nearby.

But here, natures noises prevail;
waves crash,
wind blows,
 gulls call.

The steady, gentle sounds cover up the city’s noise
and make it seem far away in reality if not in proximity.

I think I’ll sit here a while longer.
